Every day across this country, Black, Brown, and other marginalized people are abused and mistreated by police officers who are supposed to protect them.
Survivors of police violence then carry lasting trauma, often having nowhere to turn for help. Unfortunately, legal representation and media attention tend to be reserved for “perfect” victims. In the shadows of these high profile cases and stories are thousands of people with similar experiences, but no advocate.
Fewer than 1% of people who believe their rights have been violated by the police ever file a lawsuit, in large part because they cannot find an attorney to represent them.

We litigate in federal court to defend our clients’ civil rights, secure reparations for survivors, and demand accountability for the harm that police cause.
Time and time again, we have convinced courts to deny qualified immunity to defendant police officers in novel circumstances, and on behalf of people who would have otherwise been silenced.
